Richard Schultz concentrates his practice in business litigation in state and federal courts. He has successfully represented clients in a wide variety of cases, involving issues ranging from corporate, construction, partnership and franchise disputes and class actions to trademark, patent and trade secret violations, antitrust violations, and malpractice. His clients include a cross section of business and industry, such as construction, eminent domain, franchising, parking, real estate management, real estate development and banking. Mr. Schultz has tried in excess of 100 cases and has briefed and argued numerous appeals before the Illinois Supreme Court, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the Illinois Appellate Courts. Among the clients Mr. Schultz has successfully represented are McDonald's Corporation, Hasbro Bradley, Inc., Playskool, Inc., The Pillsbury Company, The Coca-Cola Company, Standard Parking Corporation, Bally Entertainment Corporation, J.P. Morgan, Chase Bank National Association, LaSalle Bank National Association, Gonnella Baking Company, American National Bank, National Wrecking Company and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. Mr. Schultz has been a Special Assistant Attorney for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, Special Assistant Attorney for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, Special Assistant Attorney for the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners and Special Assistant Attorney for the Chicago Transit Authority. Mr. Schultz began his legal career in 1964 as an Assistant United States Attorney in Chicago, where he was Chief of the Criminal Division for six years. While he primarily prosecuted financial crimes, he conducted the grand jury investigation involving the riots that occurred during the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago and co-prosecuted the "Chicago 7" conspiracy case. Mr. Schultz has written and lectured on numerous occasions, including presentations to the Federal Bar Association and Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education on eminent domain and trial technique. He has also been a faculty member of ICLE, and has been a member of the Central Board of the Jewish Community Centers for ten years.
