Jerry Peven focuses his practice on real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, financing, loan workouts and restructurings. He represents some of the nation’s largest real estate owners and operators and real estate financing organizations, including Equity Residential (one of the largest residential REITs in the U.S.), JVM Realty Corporation, Freestone Realty Advisors, CW Capital, Charter One Bank, JPMorgan Chase, N.A., and Echelon Property Management.

Mr. Peven’s significant matters include the representation of Trotter Kent, Inc. in a matter that led to the foreclosure of a 10-building apartment complex, which in turn led to a bankruptcy filing by a guarantor. Trotter Kent was ultimately named as a liquidating trustee for the three real estate companies owned by the guarantor, whose primary assets were the shares he held in those companies. For the next year, Mr. Peven helped manage the legal issues that arose as part of the three companies’ daily operations, selling more than 25 of their properties and recovering the full amount of Trotter Kent’s unsecured claim.
